Some comments from our customers.

Hi guys,

I thought that it is just appropriate that I send a quick thank you note. Although my excitement was somewhat dampered when I received a faulty unit, my experience quickly changed when Malcolm went the extra mile to resolve the problem. He collected the unit the next working day and I then got a replacement unit a day later, even though it probably could have been fixed within a day or two. It is clear that Malcolm and his company values the relationship with MaxMusic and your customers.

At the same time, I also value the urgency that MaxMusic shared in finding a solution. I wouldn't hesitate to make further purchases (as soon as I have learned how to play the piano). Oh, and by the way, this unit (310) is absolutely fantastic.

Thanks again!

Hallo Casio People

It was Late September or early October 1987, I was 19 years old and on my way to join 102 Battalion on the then SWA/Angola border. I did not know it then but I acquired a watch that will accompany me on many-many adventures.

The G-Shock was a relatively new phenomenon and I believed the advert (man jumping out of chopper into water) that this is a tough watch. I knew from experience that this I would need. (I was notoriously a heavy consumer of timepieces) My previous watch (Casio100m water resistant) did not make it, but I suppose the 100m Casio was impressive enough (It took me through one year intense training at Infantry School) to convince me of the possibility that the G-Shock might be the one for me.

I remember putting my G-Shock on for the first time how heavy and bulky it felt but this was a match of man and watch made in heaven.

We spent our first year together in 102 Battalion adventuring and soldiering in the raw beauty of the Kaokoveld. Rugged terrain, extreme weather, extreme challenges and heaps of adventures, we had a glorious time together. So great had my faith in my rugged companion became that my boastings about its toughness landed us in a precarious position.
Can the watch withstand a Buffel (Mine resistant armoured personnel
carrier) driving over it? I said yes and the dare was on. My G-Shock companion withstood the test and forever convinced me, and a few others, of its toughness.

So a legend was born and Savage (a nickname earned with pride and gusto) and his G-Shock adventured on.
Together we joined the police, left the police, swam, hitch-hiked, biked, fell, climbed, bungeed, rafted, kloofed, hiked, flew, drank, danced, and generally lived at a hell of a pace from one extreme to the next till February1995.

I qualified as a Camel Trophy SA Selection finalist but a week before the event my faithful companion lost his rubber covering. This was due to extreme material fatigue and has been a ways in the coming. No time to send the watch away and get it back in time to participate in the event and I will not go without my trusted G-Shock. The crisis was big as the four selector pins now protruded really badly and can get easily damaged.
Battling with an injured left hand I always carried a roll of Elastoplast strapping when guiding or missioning about. First-Aid was needed and Elastoplast strapping was generously wound around the timepiece and the appropriate cuts made to form a crude new face, and thus another legend was born: The taped-up G-Shock.

Together we off-roaded, explored, rafted, guided, abseiled, partied, broke hearts and generally lived at a hell of a pace from one extreme to the next till June 1977 when we got married.
Live calmed down somewhat then, but we still went on many missions and had many adventures.
We were driving all through the night for the birth of my first daughter and missed it by two hours, but we were there for the births of number two and three, recording the exact time of the events.

For almost twenty years we had a great time, shared many moments and experiences. We both got injured a number of times but my trusted G-Shock took the nocks far better than me. From the time that I bought it in 1987 till it stopped functioning on Saturday night 30 June 2007 I cannot recall ever replacing the battery. The strap has been replaced three times but I can honestly not recall ever replacing the battery.

I was browsing your website a few weeks back when I saw that my G-shock is still in production. This raised the hope that my G-shock might be resurrected and restored to its former glory to continue our happy relationship for another 20 years.

My parting shot in this epic tale is this: If not my G-shock then another, but never not a G-Shock.

The legendary G-shock in question is a DW5600EG.(Pictures attached) Please advise how to go about restoring my watch.

Cheers
Johann "Savage" Breytenbach

Dear Angelique

I would like to express my gratitude towards you for the exceptional service that I received from you and your Company.
When I phoned you with my grievance, I asked you if you were busy and you replied "Yes, but how can I help you". I poured my heart out to you, and you treated me with compassion and it was actually not your problem. You took it on yourself to sort out my problem, you were true to your word and contacted me when you said you would and kept me up to date with proceedings with ASJ.
I believe that it is the attitude of the staff that actually gives a Company a good or bad reputation. Your Company can only go from strength to strength with the calibre of staff as yourself.
At least my disappointment in ASJ turned into a positive outcome with the help from you, and to think that ASJ actually wants to take all the credit for this exchange after their attitude towards me.
I am forwarding this letter to ASJ with a letter of disappointment with regards to the service that I received from them. Whatever happened to Humanity, that people actually have to hide behind "Company Policies".
Trusting that this will be a feather in your cap. Once again thank you for everything.

Dear Sir,
I would like to express my sincere thanks and congratulations on one of your products. The Casio 901 DW-5600 Watch as pictured in my attachments.
This watch was bought for me by my Father in late 1990 as a present for finishing my high school. I seem to remember that it came with a promise of a 7 year battery, which at the time I thought was ambitious to say the least. Well I have had to replace the battery last week which means my watch battery has lasted over 14 years since I have had it and possible some months since it left the factory. As you can see its a little worse for wear as the rubber cover perished recently, but to this day still keep good time and is always on my wrist.
When it finally does stop working, I shall definitely replace it with a newer version of the same model. That is of course if I manage to outlive it.
Again congratulations on a superb product.

Kind Regards
Chris Gosling

Hi

I just had to write and tell you about this amazing Casio watch I have. My husband was given a bottom of the range, nothing fancy, Casio watch about 10 years ago. We worked on a game farm near Nelspruit for a couple of years. In 1995 we played a game of outdoor basket ball. He took off his watch and placed it near the poll. He then forgot about it. Forgetting where he had put it. A year later a friend of ours was walking past the basket ball hoop and heard an alarm going off. To his surprise he dug in the sand to find the watch, with its alarm going off. It had been buried for 1 year out in the open, in the rain etc. which had covered the watch up with soil. He brought it to us, the strap has disintegrated, which is no surprise!! But 8 years after that the watch is still being used!! Not once have we even changed the battery!! All I can say is WOW What a watch!! So I just had to write and tell you about the amazing Casio watch I have, which to this day wakes me up every morning without fail!!

That is my story.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, models change, update and upgrade.

We currently have the greatest range of G Shocks we have ever had.

Tell us where you are and we will recommend a convenient retailer.

Kind regards

Wally Solomon

HI James

Just a quick story you can add to the site. My daughter was playing with a calculator this morning 13 Dec 2005. It is a Casio MG-660 which my parents bought me when I was in standard 4 (1980). They bought me the calculator to play with as it has a game on it. I had just jumped off the roof and broke both my writs. They probably thought by playing the game on the calculator it would help my wrists get stronger and help with the 6 week boredom at home having both arms immobilized.

On closer inspection of the calculator I notice that it still has the original Casio labeled AA penlight batteries, made in Japan ?.. some 25 years later and still working.

This surly is some sort of a record.

I guess they just don't make them like they used.

The Public Relations Officer
I am a nature conservation officer in KwaZulu-Natal and have been stationed along the coast since 1988.
Not only do I perform duies in a protected area, but was previously much involved in coastal activities ie patrol and diving etc.

Shortly after arriving in SA from Namibia, where I was also a conservationist in the northern region, I purchased a casio watch.

Unfortunately I do not recall the date, although I am sure that if the watch is opened and any serial number is located, you will be able to determine when it was sold (?). I chose the Casio G-Shock due to the marine type work I was involved in ie it was 200m water resistent and could take the hard "life style".

Over the years I was able to replace the watch strap on a couple of occasions, but at one stage the protective covering around the watch started cracking and breaking off. Unfortunately I was never able to replace it, even after numerous enquiries at various watch makers and jewlers.
Due to this fact, I replaced the watch with another, as I was unable to get the same type of watch.

The watch that I am presently wearing requires to be replaced and my wife and I went shopping over the weekend to look for another watch. After visiting many jewlers, without finding a suitable watch - I was looking for another G-Shock, I returned home and decided to visit your web site to see if the watch I was after is still availble. I manged to find it. The G-Shock std DW5600E - the same one I had previously worn.

Later that day, my wife mentioned that I should look in my bed side drawer, as I might find the old one. I thought I had disposed of it many years ago.

Much to my surprise, not only did I find the watch that had been placed in an envelope, but it was still working, the date was correct and the time had only lost 20 minutes over the years. I presume I must have replaced the battery the last time I replaced the strap.

I was absolutely amazed at this find.

I have attached three photo's of the watch as proof of (1) that I actually have the watch, (2)the condition of the watch and (3) that it has kept time and date over all these years. This must be a GOOD make of WATCH.

Should you require the watch for publicity reasons, you are most welcome to have it.(or can it be saved?)

With best regards

Roy Jones

Conservation Manager Enseleni Nature Reserve

I have had many expensive watches over the years (including watches like my Tag Heuer, etc), but I wanted to let you know what a remarkable watch my Casio is.

It has been in my possession for 30 odd years. It spent two years in the army, doing reccies and the like. It has gone on safari to Namibia and it has been on bike trips all over the country and beyond. It has a crack in the face and yet it goes for regular swims without the slightest hint of a water damage. It has even gone AWOL for 5 years (much like the sock in the Netstar advertisement), only to turn up unexpectedly in the linen cupboard.

Over the years this watch has proven to me what the true meaning of craftsmanship is and it will always be my favourite. In truth, this ticker will probably outlive mine!

Please give me feedback as to the history of this remarkable watch, i.e.
when and where it was manufactured, etc. The model number is 81 (in a
border) W-60 and the serial number is 046719. It would be much appreciated if you could assist me in this regard. I have attached a scan of the watch for your perusal.

Cudos to Casio.

Kind regards,
